Agility Classes

Pre-School: For dogs age 4 months or older. All work is done on-leash. This class focuses on obedience for agility, including hands on control, sits, downs, recalls and attention. Heeling including foodwork drills over cavaletti and targeting are introduced. Motivation, drive and targeting are introduced. Obstacles include the buja board, ladder, channel weaves, tippy board, open tunnel and "get-on board". Pre-jump exercises will also be introduced to encourge your dog to jump correctly. Cost is $85 for new students and $80 for currently enrolled students. (Eight Week Session).

Kindergarten: Prerequisite is Pre-School. Continuation of obedience work used in agility: more proofing, recalls and targeting. Heeling and more groundwork from the left and right sides. The 1-2-3 Game is introduced. Additional obstacles introduced in this session include including the tire, closed tunnel or chute and jumping exercises. Massage, dog food and weight of your dog will also be discussed during this session. Cost is $75 for new students and $70 for currently enrolled students. (Six Week Session).

Beginner: For dogs one year or older. Prerequisite is Kindergarten or prior approval from instructor. Most work is on-leash with the beginning of some off-leash training depending upon the individual dog and handler. Introduction of all contact obstacles at lower heights and more jumping is included as well as continuing training of all agility obstacles introduced in the Pre-School and Kindergarten classes. Cost is $75 new students and $70 for currently enrolled students. (Six Week Session).

Intermediate:Prerequesite is Beginner. Work is off leash. Class focuses on agility commands and teamwork, obstacle sequencing, full height of obstacles, body language, handling skills and directionals. Cost is $55 monthly.

Novice: All work off leash. Preparation for competition. Includes learning to walk a course and course strategies, running a complete course, advanced sequencing, and developing handling skills. Cost is $55 monthly.

Advanced: For dogs competing or ready for their first competition. Focuses on more challenging exercises and courses. Includes distance training, continued directional training and emphasizes better control and response from your dog. Cost is $55 monthly.

Masters: For dogs who have earned an open or advanced agility title or higher. Emphasis on obstacle discrimination, distance work, developing better technique and handling skills. Includes learning and refining competition in agility games such as gamblers, snooker and jumpers. Cost is $55 monthly.

Games: Class is approximately 1 1/2 hours. Limit of six handler/dogs per session. Training the handler for the games of Snooker and Gamblers. The class will alternate between Snooker and Gamblers. Dogs must be competing or ready for competition to come to this class. This class is open to both students and non-students of Gold Medal. Class fee is $10.00 per class for current students and $15.00 for non-students.

Private Lessons: Individual attention for special training needs or just sharpen your handling skills in obedience and/or agility. Cost is $30 half hour, $60 per hour. An hour may be shared with up to three people.

Drop-Ins: $20 per session (with prior approval).

 

Rally Classes

Introduction: Dogs should already have a reliable sit, down, stay and left-side loose leash heal. Dogs much be able to safely work around other people and dogs on leash. Classes are once a week for 1 hour. Class sizes are limited. Class fee is $90.00 (Six Week Session). For Current students the fee is $80.00.

Advanced/Excellence: Dog and hanlder should be familiar with Rally Novice. Class are one a week for 1 and 1/2 hours. Class sizes are limited. Class fee is $90.00 (Six Week Session). For Current Students the fee is $80.00.
